It goes without saying that service is what makes some hotels move into the stratosphere of awesomeness, and so staff at Costa Navarino go out of their way to make every guest feel special. The Concierge services will be able to advise on local places to visit and maintains a calendar with all local events such as village fetes which are a must to attend, although it will feel like a different world altogether. But do try it.

If you manage to make it all the way to this area of Greece, I envy you.

I remember one beautiful summer in 1994, the whole family on vacation there (though Costa Navarino did not exist back then and I doubt we would have been able to afford it as a party of five). My brother had taken his university entrance exams and we found out that he had got into Law School in Athens. The whole day we celebrated. We went to Methoni to visit the castle and Bourtzi, with our little Zodiac speedboat. On the way back it got dark and we didn't know which bay our hotel was in. We were exhilarated and didn't mind.

I long for carefree days like that one.
