Styling a kid's room for Christmas
If you've come to this post from my chalet chic Guest Bedroom styling challenge, welcome back!
After styling my guest bedroom with the John Lewis Alpine Edit, I am now moving my attention onto a kid's bedroom and giving it a makeover that is a little retro.
JUNIOR BEDROOM IN 'CHAMONIX'
So let's have a look. First of all, here's the before photo, with the room still looking summery.
In the guest room, I used two of the three key colours in this Edit: white and red.
For the junior bedroom, I went for blue and red. What helps here is that the wall is painted in a deep blue colour - Farrow & Ball's Stiffkey Blue to be precise.
First, I removed all the yellow accents from the room, replacing the bedside Hokolo London lampshade with a mini 75 Anglepoise; the stripes throw; the Zara bedspread and the cotton ball lights. The yellow Lego boxes were hidden in the closet as well.
The cotton ball lights I used have white, red and black - I thought that the blue accent wall was more than enough to introduce this extra colour in here. The black works with the accessories - on the bedding, the toys.
DRESS THE BED
The bedding I chose has a white background with a ski scene. I teamed it with the same red fleece with contrast stitching and two accent cushions: the big check Sherpa cushion in red and the Fair Isle cushion that I used in the Guest Room.
The John Lewis bathrobe above is perfect for the whole Alpine Edit look. The fitted bed sheet is the Little Home by John Lewis also in red, £18.
AROUND THE ROOM
I printed retro photos from old ski posters and added these to the wall. The decorations on the bedside table and my son's favourite red Mini car support the look I am going for.
DRESS THE FLOOR
On the floor, an Icelandic sheepskin rug (John Lewis) in cream will keep Junior's feet warm while an RBM NOOR chair in bright red with retro blue legs is available nearby to hold clothes and boxes of toys.
