7 Home Cleaning Hacks You Should Try Right Now
A neat and clean home does more than look pleasing to the eyes: it is a must for physical and mental upkeep. But at times, cleaning takes a back seat because other work takes most of our time or becomes an excruciating task.
For this reason, many people in Seattle outsource the work to Seattle cleaning services so that they can deal with the work and struggle.
For our purposes, we have come up with 7 innovative cleaning hacks that change and influence the way of doing the household chores from a slower, maybe even inefficient way, to completely renewed.
The article gives seven genius cleaning hacks revolutionising your cleaning routine to make it faster, easier, and more nature-friendly.
Hack 1: The Power of Vinegar and Baking Soda
Vinegar and baking soda are not only do these two materials create two average kitchen staples, but they also form the mighty duo of eco-friendly cleaning. They are able to fight almost anything, and there is never any need for recourse to harsh chemicals.
How does it work
A versatile and general-purpose, effective cleaner can be produced by mixing equal proportions of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle with 4 tbsp of baking soda added to it. It is the answer that cleans everything, from the kitchen counters and appliances to the bathroom tiles.
In the case of blockages, pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain followed by a cup of vinegar. Cover it momentarily to allow the suggested fizzing action to take place, wait for thirty minutes, then run boiling water through it. This is safe on your pipes and environmentally friendly.
Hack 2: Steam Cleaning Microwaves
Cleaning a microwave is not a tough task to do, where one is scrubbing and scraping. A light steam clean takes out with ease.
Fill the largest microwave-safe glass bowl half full of water, add several slices of lemon or a splash of vinegar to the water, and set it in the microwave on High.
When the water boils, the window will steam. Open the door after it has been allowed to sit and steam for about 15 minutes.
The steam does all the cleaning work, and lemon or vinegar helps in eliminating the smells.
After the steaming process, a quick wipe using a cloth, and your microwave looks as good as new.
Hack 3: Newspaper for Streak-Free Windows
Clean windows with newspaper—sounds old-school, but it works. Unlike most paper towels, newspapers have dense fibers that easily suck up liquids without leaving any unsightly streaks or bits of fluff.
First, spray your windows with home cleaning solution or your favorite glass cleaner.
Then, wad the newspaper, preferably a good old newspaper, and use it to wipe the windows in a circular motion, followed by vertical then horizontal strokes for that great finish.
So, this way, we should not only keep on recycling old newspapers and finding good use for them, but we would also, at the same time.
Hack 4: Hair Dryer for Water Rings on Wood
The point is that all these water rings on wooden furniture are just a nuisance; not something it necessarily has to do without forever.
And here is a place where something as simple and common as a hairdryer can do a surprisingly good job. You may then use the hairdryer at the lowest heat setting and several inches away from the water stain. Move the dryer slowly over the section to spread the heat, which would assist in evaporation of the trapped moisture within the wood.
After a few minutes, the stain should be gone. Finally, a small amount of olive oil or furniture polish can be rubbed in to restore some of the natural sheen of the wood. How is that for a cleaning hack!
Hack 5: Denture Tablets for Toilet Cleaning
Used traditionally for cleaning dentures, denture tablets contain very good cleaning and deodorizing properties. You can use them for toilet cleaning as well.
How do they work?
Denture cleaning tablets contain citric acid and baking soda. This helps in removing stains and killing bacteria.
If you want to clean your toilet with them, drop about two to three tabs in the toilet bowl. They will dissolve by fizzing. Leave them in for close to 30 minutes.
After the fizzing stops, take a toilet brush and scour it to remove any remaining patches; then flush it off. You're left with a clean, sparkling, fresh-smelling toilet, and it didn't take much effort.
Hack 6: DIY Reusable Floor Pads for Sweeping Robots
In such instances, those who use such robotic vacuums or mops can develop the reusable floor pads by themselves and use them, getting a cheaper and eco-friendly alternative instead of making purchases.
Ensure that there are old towels or microfiber cloths cut into the right size and attached to the bottom of your cleaning robot using Velcro. The homemade pads can be so made that they serve the purpose without disposing of them and a lot of money can be saved on them.
This is especially very valuable for persons who may want to reduce their environmental footprint but still maintain perfectly clean floors.
Hack 7: Essential Oils for Fresher Air
Not only used for aromatherapy, but essential oils also add natural fragrance and antimicrobial properties to your cleansers.
A few drops of essential oils such as lavender, eucalyptus, or lemon into the water or your homemade cleaning solutions will greatly improve the smell of your home while offering a natural antibacterial boost. Use different scents according to the seasons or your mood to create a pleasant, inviting home environment.
