Colourful homewares and more - August 2017

You know I spend a lot of my time looking high and low for beautiful products for my home (and be extension, yours too). This month, while the light is still warm, I am totally inspired by bold colours and so this is a happy round up of the most colourful - right in your face products - I could come up with. My favourite shops, their most deliciously coloured products, right here for you.

TRAVEL IN STYLE

July and August are the months of travelling so with my passport in hand I am ready to visit new places in style. Nothing says more "travelling in style than a great looking passport cover and make up bags.

I am personally on the hunt for a new passport cover, and while I would love to get a personalised Louis Vuitton one, I also came across the Swiss brand Lucrin, whose leather goods come in a variety of colours and you can even customise the colour of the stitching.

I bumped into them while searching for a pen pouch for a Montblanc pen (just look at their orange leather one below!) and before long I had a long list of products that I could invest in like this small wash bag (£94) and this Apple Watch leather band (38mm ladies watch band) in fuchsia.

KEEPING THINGS TIDY

The other product I am currently looking for is a colourful trinket tray for a coffee table styling and these are all my findings on Amara.com.

From the top and clockwise you can see the red Kate Spade 'All my Love' Posy Court Square Tray (£42), the Jonathan Adler green tiger trinket tray and the blue Mykonos one with the greek key pattern (both £68); the Kaleido Hexagon blue Tray by HAY £39 for those who like thing a little minimal, the smaller Versailles Trinket Tray in green, again by Jonathan Adler (£38) and lastly the floral pattern Missoni Margherita tidy tray (£129).

LUXURY COLOURFUL CUSHIONS

The latest collaboration of this blog is not going live until September, but please allow me to quickly introduce to you to BIVAIN, which is going to be the next big thing in luxury home decor. My personal favourite: the lobster cushion!

Founded in 2016 by Megha Lohia and Rachel Fong, BIVAIN is a contemporary home decor and accessories brand offering objects of desire with an edge. The Central Saint Martins-trained designers worked for brands including Agent Provocateur and Zac Posen prior to launching BIVAIN; and with an appetite for the bold and the whimsical, they set out to create a lifestyle brand with serious sex appeal! If Suzanne Imre or Neil McLennan of Livingetc are reading this - this is a brand you need to have in your next styled shoot!

GIN + TONIC TIME

Because seriously, when you pick up a pair of Le Cocktail velvet chairs, you will want to be making a Gin & Tonic all the time (and by the way, did you read this post about the most beautiful Gin Trolley in the world! Serious swoon, be warned!).

Inspired by a mid-century French silhouette, this lounge chair is upholstered in ‘Varese’ velvet fabric by Designers Guild in a choice of eight lustrous colours with piping and button detailing.

A modern heirloom, each velvet chair is handmade in Beeston in Nottinghamshire, is signed by the individual craftsman, and the frame is guaranteed for twenty five years. Bespoke service also available to upholster the Le Cocktail silhouette in our selection of Designers Guild Fabrics - 'Allia' Cotton, 'Sloane’, ‘Zeno’ or other shades of ‘Varese’ Velvet.

NOT JUST DECORATIONS

This month, our favourite online home decor shop Mia Fleur launched their own all new and shiny collection of velvet armchairs in collaboration with the best of British upholsterers. The two initial designs include a sumptuous Deep Button Armchair in orange and a winged back armchair in green and join the other furniture pieces available from the store like the gold Amour deco-style Curved Back Chair.

Each piece is handmade to order in the Midlands and not only that, but 1 upholsterer individually makes each velvet armchair from start to finish, in the time-honoured tradition of craftsmen that we excel at in Britain. The frames and legs are made from solid beech wood and, along with the coiled base springs, have a 10 year guarantee for peace of mind.

Mia Fleur has always provided something unique for those of us who love intense colours and my picks below also include their trio of Artificial Green Amaranthus Spray (from £25.95), the Hugeia bust in pink (now £48), and the all new Minoan Taurus head, which is a well known symbol of ancient Crete and the Minoan times.
