Minimalism: A gallery inspired home by Daytrip Studio

In this residence located in north London, interiors studio Daytrip has combined curving, organic shapes with clean-lined minimalism.

Daytrip collaborated with architecture firm Studio 30 to expand the ground floor of a Victorian terrace house towards the rear and side, creating additional space. Simultaneously, they excavated downwards to raise the ceiling height and enhance the space's presence.

What is Mimalism in interiors?

Minimalism in interiors is a design style characterized by simplicity, clean lines, and a focus on functionality. It is a concept that revolves around the idea of "less is more," where every element in a space is carefully chosen to serve a purpose and contribute to the overall aesthetic. It is often found in the Wabi Sabi inspired style: Japandi.

Minimalist interiors often feature neutral color palettes, uncluttered spaces, and a sense of openness and tranquility.

One of the key principles of minimalism is the idea of decluttering and simplifying. This means that unnecessary decorations and furniture are eliminated, leaving only the essentials. By removing excess elements, minimalist interiors create a sense of calm and serenity, allowing the mind to relax and focus on the beauty of the space itself.

In addition to simplicity, minimalism also emphasizes the importance of quality over quantity. This means investing in well-made, timeless pieces that will last for years to come, rather than constantly following trends and replacing items frequently.

By choosing high-quality materials and craftsmanship, minimalist interiors achieve a sense of sophistication and elegance.

Overall, minimalism in interiors is a thoughtful and intentional approach to design that prioritizes clarity, functionality, and a sense of peace. It is about creating spaces that are not only visually appealing but also practical and conducive to a balanced and harmonious lifestyle.
