RED Edition - Mid Century style French furniture
Running at the same time as Maison Et Objet in Paris, the imm Cologne, in Germany, is an international interiors show that presents the trends that will be shaping the furniture and interiors sector – and the products that are good for business. With a unique variety of interior design ideas for every room, the show has introduced me to new designers and brands.
RED Edition is a French furniture company that has been around since 2006. Its founder, Cyril Laborbe, set out to create furniture that were simple, beautiful, colourful and 'designer'.
"I love trends but I also think about what is practical, I think about how our furniture will fit in your interiors", he says. "I am constantly looking to understand what you want, and to grow community".
With 5 designers collaborating with the brand to bring designs that are eclectic and somewhere in the mid-range in terms of price - definitely not very affordable to be mass produced but not out of reach either - the products have a distinctive mid-century feel about them and complement each other like one big collection.
On researching the brand further I came upon their 'apartment', a showroom that features their products in a real life environment. Apartment showrooms are becoming ever more popular, with UK's Swoon Editions also having one of their own.
The apartment is painted in Hague Blue by Farrow and Ball which I find is the perfect backdrop to let the furniture do all the talking, especially as they are crafted in warm coloured wood.
Fifties furniture are having a great come back - the simplicity of the materials used and the fact that they are designed with comfort in mind, make them an excellent investment opportunity. They also work well in a variety of popular - on trend - styles, like Scandinavian and industrial.
The Red Edition three-seater sofa gives a Scandinavian design feel to your living space. I love the wooden frame with its clean lines and warm colour. And the photos show how this design works well in both Scandi and eclectic rooms.
