1. Quiet Luxury with a Utilitarian Approach
‘Quiet Luxury’ will remain a strong trend in kitchen design into 2025, with understated
elegance, superior materials, minimalism and craftsmanship at its core, according to Natalie Fry, Founder & Director at Grid Thirteen.
"‘Quiet Luxury’ trend allows our designers to add discreet, yet highly bespoke details within client schemes which are often hidden behind cabinetry doors, through engraving or in ergonomic details handcrafted from wood. This approach balances functionality and refined design, offering homeowners personalised pleasure and comfort in their home.”, says Natalie.
Suited to larger kitchen spaces, this trend showcases kitchens with a subtle, luxury aesthetic through personalisation and bespoke furniture details which are thoughtfully merged with practical, efficient design solutions for maximum functionality.

Reena Simon, designer and content creator, designed an exclusive kitchen collection with The Main
Company this year. Here, she shares her thoughts on the quiet luxury trend in kitchen design:
“This trend aligns with the broader movement towards sensorial design, where the focus is on creating environments that engage the senses in a calming and subtle way. Additionally, there’s a growing desire for personalisation and uniqueness in design. Rather than opting for cookie-cutter solutions, homeowners are embracing bespoke elements that reflect their individual tastes and lifestyles, leading to kitchens that are both functional and deeply personal.”

Hardware
"We are seeing more and more requests for hardware that adds texture and interest into a kitchen design - and introducing tactile cabinet knobs and handles is a great way to do this.", says Paul Clifford, Managing Director, Croft.
"Opting for quality when choosing frequently touched items is key to longevity, so choose cabinet pulls and handles with an interesting pattern and design for a luxurious finish with a difference."
2. Hide-Away Kitchen Sink Systems
Gone are the days of clunky, exposed kitchen sinks. Welcome the era of Hide-Away Kitchen Sink Systems, where your sink effortlessly disappears beneath a sleek cover that seamlessly integrates with your countertop.
This transformative system not only enhances the visual harmony of your kitchen but also optimizes workspace efficiency for seamless food preparation and cleanup.

4. These Colours will prevail in 2025 Kitchen Design
In 2025, warm and inviting kitchen colors will continue to be at the forefront of design trends, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere in your home's culinary hub.
The color palette for kitchens will be a delightful blend of earthy tones and rich jewel hues, offering a wide range of options to suit different tastes and styles.
"As we approach 2025, colour trends are set to embrace earthy tones like terracotta and muted greens, highlighting our connection to nature and sustainability. Soft pastels and warm neutrals will continue to evoke comfort, while rich hues such as emerald green and navy blue add sophistication." says Bailey Oates, Colour Expert, Earthborn.

5. 2025 Kitchen appliances that you should you invest in
The kitchen of the future is all about cutting-edge technology and innovative appliances that streamline your cooking experience. From smart refrigerators that track inventory to multi-functional cooking gadgets, these appliances are designed to make your life easier and your meals more delicious.
However, the available space (including countertops) must be considered to avoid making your kitchen look busy.
"There are a number of options when it comes to making sustainable choices for your kitchen appliances, the first being researching the brands that are actively working on providing low-impact solutions to homeowners" according to PAD Kitchens.
"Brands such as Miele, Bosch and Samsung all make appliances and accessories that are designed to reduce your impact on the planet whilst still providing the functionality you need. Many brands are also putting effort into the disposal of their products too, designing in a way that means parts can be easily recycled and reused".
Smart taps made smarter
If your tap does not already include one, then something as simple as a tap aerator can help reduce the flow of water by up to 10 litres per minute, taking the flow from 18 litres per minute to just 8. You can find this genius little component in most bathroom stores and on Amazon for under £5.
6. Collaborative Spaces
Kitchens will no longer be confined to solo cooking endeavors. Collaborative kitchen spaces are on the rise, featuring communal workstations, dining areas, and integrated seating that foster social interaction and shared culinary experiences among family and friends.
In the project below by MLA Architecture, a carefully curated interior palette featuring subtle colors and materials in pastel tones enhances the visual appeal of the space but also creates a soothing ambiance, inviting you to relax and unwind.
7. Are Open Shelves Still a Thing in 2025?
Open shelves in kitchen design have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their ability to create a sense of openness and airiness in the space. Unlike traditional closed cabinets, open shelves offer a more visually appealing way to display kitchenware, cookbooks, and decorative items.
One of the main advantages of open shelves is the convenience they offer in terms of accessibility. With everything out in the open, it's easier to grab what you need while cooking or preparing meals. This can also help to inspire creativity in the kitchen, as having your tools and ingredients within reach can make the cooking process more efficient and enjoyable.
Additionally, open shelves can be a great way to showcase your personal style and design aesthetic. By carefully curating the items you display, you can add a touch of personality to your kitchen and create a space that feels uniquely yours. Whether you prefer a minimalist look with a few carefully chosen pieces or a more eclectic style with an array of colors and textures, open shelves provide a versatile canvas for expressing your creativity.
2025 will see a further evolution of open shelving with more high street kitchen providers incorporating solutions for open shelving as part of their kitchen collections thus making the style more accessible to all.

8. Lighting is Not an Afterthought
Lighting plays a pivotal role in setting the mood and functionality of your kitchen. Properly planned lighting can transform a kitchen into a welcoming and efficient area for cooking, dining, and socializing.
When considering kitchen lighting, it is important to think about the different types of lighting such as ambient, task, and accent lighting. Ambient lighting provides overall illumination, making the kitchen feel bright and inviting.
Task lighting, on the other hand, focuses on specific work areas like the countertops, stove, or sink, ensuring adequate light for food preparation and cooking. Accent lighting adds depth and visual interest by highlighting certain features such as artwork, architectural details, or decorative elements.
By combining these different types of lighting, you can create a layered lighting scheme that enhances both the aesthetic appeal and practicality of your kitchen. Additionally, the choice of light fixtures, such as recessed lights, pendant lights, under cabinet lighting, or track lighting, can further enhance the style and functionality of the space.
As our kitchens grow into collaborative spaces, lighting takes centre stage in renovation projects where decisions have to be made early on before boarding and plastering the room.

9. Kitchen Design that Integrates Key Architectural Features
When designing any new kitchen, it is essential to consider how the structural elements of a space can be harmoniously blended with functional and aesthetic considerations.
One approach to achieving this integration is by highlighting and enhancing the existing architectural features of a kitchen, such as exposed beams, brick walls, or large windows. These elements can serve as focal points that inform the overall design scheme and create a sense of cohesion within the space.
Incorporating key architectural features into the kitchen design can also involve thoughtful material choices and finishes that complement the existing elements. For example, selecting cabinetry and countertops that echo the color or texture of a reclaimed wood beam can help tie the design together and enhance the overall visual impact of the space.
Additionally, paying attention to details such as lighting fixtures, hardware, and accessories can further reinforce the connection between the architectural features and the design elements.
Case study
This Surrey kitchen project delivers sleek, contemporary elegance whilst remaining warm and inviting. A Baufritz house, Kitchens by Holloways designer Barty Rowland-Orme was tasked by the homeowners to create a kitchen that was sympathetic to the open plan, nature-inspired feel of the home.
Designed using Kitchens by Holloways’ Mortimer range of cabinets, the door fronts are constructed using a furniture linoleum applied to a birch ply core, with a recessed exposed ply handle.
Inspired by mid 20th century Scandinavian furniture design, the Mortimer cabinetry complements the clean aesthetic of the property, fusing perfectly with the use of wood, glass and concrete throughout.
The visible edges of the birch ply material, a significant feature of the Mortimer range, add a natural warmth that is wonderfully sympathetic to the kitchen’s surroundings.

10. Customisation
Customisation is a crucial aspect of any project and allows you to tailor the space to your needs. But beyond that, it allows you to express your personality through your unique design aesthetic. Balancing functionality with style can result in aesthetically pleasing spaces that will make your heart sing.
Incorporating colour is one of the easiest ways to showcase your style. Mixing and matching colours in lower and upper cabinets or between a run of cabinets and your island can help elevate even the most affordable kitchen options to something more special.
Installing unique and eye catching light fixtures can instantly transform the look and feel of the space.
